Ancillary Trauma in the Novels of Toni Morrison

This article explores the concept of «ancillary trauma», through which a woman character who has not been subjected to racial violence becomes traumatized actions male either psychically or emotionally damaged as result racist actions. While Morrison sympathizes with what characters endure, texts suggest that, in many cases, these lash out against women their lives an attempt emulate white masculinity. These men know that they cannot act oppress them; repress feelings shame and humiliation, choosing rather assert perceived dominance over those feel can control— children homes. Some victims ancillary trauma go on wreak havoc others, while only defence appears be instilling self-worth by parents value complete human beings.
